We're from the upstate NY area, around Albany. I'm 21. I've tried to make a small family tree on ancestry.com but haven't found much on the St.Gelais side. I saw one entry though about a Joseph St.Gelais in Canada...my great grandfather was a Joseph St.Gelais that was supposed to be from Canada, I think. Email with any info.

Hi everyone, i'm from Canada and i didn't know that there's alot of St-Gelais families in the States. I dont know if we are related but, I'd like to share great news with all of you... My grand parents "St-Gelais" just had their 75 th wedding anniversery on july 28 2001 in Gaspé (Quebec). They are both 94 years old and feeling great. The pope, Queen Elizabeth, the prime minister and many politicians congratulated them. WOW !!!

My maiden name is Sangelais but was told that it was also spelled St. Anglais, Sangelois, Sanglais and maybe even other ways. My grandfather Louis "Uldric" Sangelais was born in Quebec. Hello, Bonjour. I was born 1957, first born in Brosseau, Alberta. A small northern farming community encompassing french, ukrainian, english and aboriginal peoples. My father transported our pregnant mother (with me) and 9 other children in tow from quebec to alberta. it took him 10 days of travel, I believe by tractor and trailer. it must of been quite a ride. anyways, I was surprised to find many St. Gelais out there. I have our Canadian coat of arms here and I am surprised at how different it is from the USA since we seem to come from the same beginnings. Anyway, I am a visual artist, childrens book illustrator, sculptor, just don't ask me to sing or dance or I will have you running. Here is a list of our names beginning with the youngest:
